A compact, DIN rail-mount ESP32-S3 controller built for WLED, driving two channels of addressable LED strips from a single 5–24V supply.

Most WLED builds end up as a dev board, a level shifter and an inline fuse zip-tied inside a project box. Here the 5V level-shifted data outputs, blade fuse, screw terminals and a protective DIN rail case come as one unit. Just match your power supply to your strip voltage and wire it up.

It goes beyond lighting too. An isolated RS485 port with its own isolated power supply links the board to Modbus sensors, PLCs and other field equipment. A dual-microphone array, ES7210 audio ADC and ES8389 codec open up voice-interaction and audio projects. Programming is over USB-C in Arduino or ESP-IDF, with example code from Waveshare.

Getting started:

  • Flash ready-made WLED firmware over USB-C (a quick one-off step)
  • Wire your strip's data line to GPIO2 or GPIO16, and its power to the output terminal
  • Power the board with 5V, 12V or 24V to match your LED strip
  • Connect to the WLED web interface over Wi-Fi to set colours, effects, segments and presets

Features

  • Drives WS2812B, SK6812, WS2811, TM1814, APA102 and single-colour strips, thanks to two 5V level-shifted LED data outputs
  • Powers strips up to 8A through the output terminal from a single 5–24V input (adequate heat dissipation required)
  • Dims single-colour strips smoothly with a software-switched low-side PWM output, disabled by default
  • Connects cleanly to Modbus sensors, PLCs and industrial equipment via isolated RS485, with its own onboard isolated supply
  • Survives noisy installations with TVS, surge and ESD protection on the RS485 port, plus digital isolation for the ESP32-S3
  • Room for complex effects and audio processing, thanks to 16MB Flash and 8MB PSRAM on the ESP32-S3-WROOM-1-N16R8 module
  • Capture and play back audio with a dual-microphone array, ES7210 ADC, ES8389 codec and NS4150B amplifier
  • On-board connections for speakers through a PH2.0 4-pin speaker connector or a 3.5mm audio jack
  • Expands easily with an SH1.0 header (GPIO3, GPIO4, 3.3V, GND) and a programmable BOOT button
  • Clips onto standard DIN rail inside a protective enclosure, making it suited to permanent installations
