Prototyping is at the heart of every project, big or small, so we've curated the very best tools and materials which we ourselves use for prototyping our own projects.
If you're prototyping a circuit big or small, then you'll want a quality breadboard, and this one is awesome! It's got dual isolated power rails perfect for complex projects, 830 tie points, and sturdy spring connectors.
The easiest way to power your breadboard projects is with a breadboard power supply. It has an onboard regulator and connects directly to the power rails.
Get your prototype online faster with a premade power supply module that can be powered by a DC Adaptor. Switchable 3.3V/5V rails and 5V USB output to cater for almost all common digital designs
This is a very simple board that takes a 6-12V input voltage and outputs a selectable 5V or 3.3V regulated voltage. All headers are 0.1" pitch for simple insertion into a breadboard.
Gone are the days of computers featuring parallel and serial ports, now it's rare to find anything more than a USB connection. So you'll need an adapter to work with those older interfaces.
USB to TTL converters are essential for prototyping - they provide a direct interface with the target device. This module connects to your computer USB port and there are 4 wires which connect with your target device.
Going from TTL to RS485 is made simple by this prototyping friendly module. On one side of the board are the TTL IOs, and on the other are the RS485. At the core is a MAX485 which is powered by 5V.
The cable is easiest way ever to connect to your microcontroller/Raspberry Pi/WiFi router serial console port. Inside the big USB plug is a USB<->Serial conversion...
Every project deserves a place to feel safe, and we've got enclosures to house all kinds of projects with weather resistant and heavy duty options available.
These beefy, bright red plastic enclosures will give your widget the protection (and attention) it deserves. You’ve probably seen these used to enclose radio equipment or antenna baluns as they can be secured to a pole using U-bolts (not included). At about 3mm thick, this 74x158x90mm enclosure has plenty of space for gizmos, gadgets, widgets and doohickeys. The mounting flanges extend 19mm from either edge with two 50mm-spaced 7mm diameter holes.
Keep your electronics from going barefoot, give them little rubber feet! These small sticky bumpers are Adafruit's favorite accessory for any electronic kit or device...
Heatshrink is the duct tape of electronics. It's used for insulating connections, providing strain relief, colour coding connectors and cables, and heaps more.
We love heat shrink! We use it for all sorts of handy projects. Use it to reinforce connections, protect devices, and electrically isolate exposed solder joints. We worked with a manufacturer to create a kit that we would use: lots of colors, lots of sizes, nothing too long. We specially requested some of the sizes with heat sensitive glue which significantly increases stress relief and water proofing. This kit includes 95 pieces of heat shrink, all of varying colors and sizes, and comes in a clear bag. All pieces are 10cm in length.
This just might be the most fully-featured protoboard you've ever used - delivering power to your project is a breeze with options for a DC socket, screw terminals or a USB Connector.
Make your next project as you imagine it with prototyping perfboards that can easily be cut with scissors like these Bakelite Universal Perfboard Plates! Adafruit wanted...
This is a very basic single sided prototyping board with standard 0.1" spacing through holes and four 3mm mounting holes. There are 22x26 holes in total. Great for quickly prototyping stackable circuits.
Customers have asked Adafruit to carry basic perf-board, but Adafruit never liked the look of most basic perf: its always crummy quality, with pads that flake off and no labeling...
Pogo pins are great for creating reliable, temporary connections on PCBs for testing and/or analysis. They're incredibly handy for prototyping and making jigs.
Pogo pins make life so much easier when you are trying to program without having to solder a single thing, and when you attach them to an In-system programming (ISP) adapter they become instantly better, this simple kit allows you to do just that. Introducing the ISP Pogo Adapter, a simple and easy way to adapt pogo pins to a 6-pin ISP header allowing you to program an IC still without soldering a header to do so.
Pogo pins are little spring-loaded contacts, very handy for making jigs, or making momentary (but electrically solid) contacts. Adafruit use them by the dozen for making...
These are good quality jumper cables, hand made with 22AWG multistrand wire and sturdy male pins. Each jumper cable is approx 210mm long. 30 units, packed as a mix of colours.
Stay organized and create tidy circuits with this pack of breadboard jumper wire. It comes with 140 pieces (10 pieces of 14 different lengths), pre-bent for insertion into your breadboard.
These premium jumper wires are stranded 26 awg wires with male terminations on both ends, for use with 0.1" (2.54 mm) female headers and breadboards. The assortment of 6" (15 cm) wires includes five each of ten different colors.

These are 6" long jumper wires terminated as male to female. Use these to jumper from any male or female header on any board. Multiple jumpers can be connected next to one another on a 0.1" header. Comes in one pack of 20 jumpers (colors shown). Each group of jumpers are connected to each other and can either be pulled apart in any quantity (from 1-20, of course) or kept whole based on you needs.
