Wide range, low power temperature sensor outputs an analog voltage that is proportional to the ambient temperature. To use, connect pin 1 (left) to power (between 2.7 and 5.5V), pin 3 (right) to ground, and pin 2 to analog in on your microcontroller. The voltage out is 0V at -50°C and 1.75V at 125°C. You can easily calculate the temperature from the voltage in millivolts: Temp °C = 100*(reading in V) - 50

    While not the most accurate temperature sensor going around, this TMP36 is very simple to use. As it is an analog device, to hook it up to a Raspberry Pi you will need an ADC (the MCP3008 works great) and there are tonnes of references on the interwebs explaining how to do this. If you want to play around with detecting the temperature, this is a cheap way to get started. (Posted on 16/06/2018)

    I had some problems getting accurate and consistent temperatures from the TMP36 via an Arduino UNO but the solution was to use "analogReference(DEFAULT)" and a 5 V power supply. Follow struggles on-line at http://forum.arduino.cc/index.php?topic=522128.new#new (Posted on 15/01/2018)
