Finding one cable in a ceiling full of identical blue jackets is usually a two-person job, with a lot of trial and error. A paired tone transmitter and colour-screen receiver turn it into a one-person walk-in-the-park, with anti-interference tracing that still works next to fluorescent tubes and mains runs.

It goes further than a tone-and-probe set. Cable length comes back to ±1.6 m under 20 m and ±3.2 m past 100 m, wiremap testing calls out opens, shorts and crossovers, and an RJ45 crimp test verifies pin-by-pin continuity before a bad termination becomes an intermittent fault six months later.

For live networks, there is PoE detection (end-span, mid-span or 8-pin; standard and non-standard, with supply mode and power level), a PING test, an IP scan for active devices, and port flashing to blink the matching port on a switch. NCV detection flags AC voltage without contact, and a built-in torch.
