A high-performance USB Power Delivery (PD) breakout board designed to unlock the full potential of modern USB-C chargers for your electronics projects.

Acting as a programmable "sink" controller, it communicates with USB-PD power supplies to negotiate precise voltage and current levels—up to 30V and 5A (150W)—allowing you to power heavy loads like motors, heating elements, or high-brightness LEDs directly from a compact wall adapter.

For makers, the biggest challenge with USB-PD is often the "boot-up" paradox: how do you power the microcontroller that needs to request the high voltage? The RotoPD solves this elegantly with an onboard buck converter that taps into the USB-C input to provide a regulated 5V/2A auxiliary output. This means you can power your controlling microcontroller (such as a Raspberry Pi Pico or Arduino) from the RotoPD itself, creating a self-contained, high-power system without needing separate power sources.

Built around the advanced AP33772S controller, this board supports the latest PD 3.1 Extended Power Range (EPR) and Adjustable Voltage Supply (AVS) protocols. This allows for granular voltage control (in steps as small as 20mV) via a simple I2C interface. Equipped with Qwiic / STEMMA QT connectors for solder-free integration and logic-level shifting for 3.3V/5V compatibility, it is the ultimate power stage for building your own smart bench supplies or portable, high-power tools.

Core Features

  • Digital Voltage Control: Request exact voltages from 3.5V to 30V via I2C, enabling dynamic power adjustments for variable supplies or battery charging algorithms.
  • Self-Powering Design: Features an integrated 5V/2A buck converter to power your host microcontroller, eliminating the need for external batteries or USB splitters.
  • PD 3.1 & AVS Support: Future-proof your projects with support for Extended Power Range (EPR) and Adjustable Voltage Supply (AVS), allowing access to voltages beyond the standard 20V limit (charger dependent).
  • Seamless Integration: Includes Qwiic / STEMMA QT connectors and built-in logic level shifters, making it plug-and-play compatible with the SparkFun and Adafruit ecosystems.
  • High Power Handling: Rated for up to 150W (30V @ 5A), featuring robust back-to-back NMOS power switching and flyback protection for inductive loads.
