The Raspberry Pi 4 is a huge leap forward for single-board computing. While the Raspberry Pi 4 is still a fantastic educational tool and piece of maker hardware, it's also now a true PC replacement for a wide range of uses at home, in school projects, and inside commercial products. This newfound performance is powered by a significant increase in processing power, dedicated multimedia hardware, and I/O technology.

We have a wide range of guides available for Raspberry Pi along with a step-by-step workshop. These guides are made for makers, by makers, and we're here if you need help along the way.

Key features

  • 1.8GHz quad-core ARM Cortex-A72 CPU
  • VideoCore VI graphics
  • Hardware 4kp@60Hz HEVC decoding
  • True Gigabit Ethernet
  • 2.4 GHz and 5.0 GHz IEEE 802.11ac wireless, Bluetooth 5.0, BLE
  • 2 × USB 3.0 and 2 × USB 2.0 ports
  • 2 × Micro-HDMI ports (1 × 4kp@60Hz or 2 × 4kp@30Hz)
  • USB-C for input power, supporting 5.1V 3A operation
  • 3 LPDDR4 RAM options available: 1GB2GB, 4GB (this listing) and 8GB
  • Supports the SDXC standard, allowing you to use microSD cards up to 2TB

This listing is for the Pi 4 4GB only, no accessories are included. Refer to the list of recommended essentials above to see what else you'll need to get started.

The new A72 processor is designed for "sprint" processing. It's incredibly fast, though will get hot with continuous loads. For heavy use, we recommend adding some cooling, such as a Heat Sink, or Fan to cool down the CPU.

We also have plenty of case options available with built-in passive/active/optional cooling. Our favourites are the Argon OneFLIRC and Poly .

The Raspberry Pi 4 B requires a 5.1V 3.0A USB C power supply. The use of a power supply other than the official version may cause issues if it doesn't meet the required electrical specifications. If you have an older-style Raspberry Pi Power Supply then you'll be happy to know the RPi4 can be used up to the power output provided (normally around 12-Watts). You'll need a micro-USB to USB-C adapter.
