This USB C PD to 2.1mm Cable with Selectable Voltage Button will help you get the most out of your USB C Power Delivery wall warts by letting you select any of the available voltages to power a device that expects a 5.5mm outer diameter / 2.1mm inner diameter DC plug. Now you can get rid of all those wall adapters you have stashed in the plastic bin in the basement! Instead of multiple wall warts with different power and current capabilities, this cable with a satisfyingly squishy button will convert any USB Type C power adapter with Power Delivery (PD) support into a 5V, 9V, 12V, 15V, or 20V DC power port at up to 2 Amps output.

Inside the cable is a PD sink negotiation chip with a 7-segment display output and a button input. When plugged into a proper PD Type C adapter, it will chat with the PD source chip in the power supply and tell it, "Hey, please change your output to 5V and up to 2 A thankyouverymuch!" and ta-da, you get 5V out on the DC barrel jack. Each time you press the button it will request the next-highest voltage available: 5V, 9V, 12V, 15, and 20V.

Do check the side of the adapter you are plugging into to make sure it is a PD source - the voltage and current capabilities will be listed on your adapter. For example, many PD power supplies don't give 12V and some don't have 20V either.

This cable is a tad longer than 1 meter / 3 feet. The tip is 5.5mm in outer diameter and 2.5mm in inner diameter with center positive voltage, but it's springy, so it works just fine for 2.1mm as well. Every time you plug it in, it will reset to 5V default and you'll need to press the button to increase the voltage - if you need a fixed voltage try one of Adafruit's fixed-output cables
