A fun, hands-on, educational project

Kits are where it's at. With our Infinity Mirror Kit you'll get to make something wonderful with your hands, all in the span of an afternoon. But if you want, you can dive deeper, follow our tutorials, level-up your coding and make this thing truly your own.

The Desktop Infinity Mirror creates an amazing optical illusion using a single strip of LEDs, a mirror, and a semi-reflective mirror. The dazzling tunnel of light it creates seems to tear through space. Better still, the embedded controller is WiFi enabled, opening up the possibilities of web interaction.

We think our kit nourishes maker-skills -- and nothing beats being able to say "I made this." But that's only the beginning: You can adapt, hack, or repurpose this kit with the help of our tutorials or you can go fully off-road and make something else amazing!

You can see how this kit began over on its project page.

What's in the kit?

We will pack all the parts you need to build this kit including:

  • Pre-cut acrylic panels (including speciality material for mirrored surface)
  • Particle Photon development board with WiFi (pre-programmed)
  • All required electronics bits and pieces for assembly
  • Fasteners (nuts and bolts)
  • 5V 2.5 Amp Power Supply (RCM Approved = Safe)
  • Instruction Manual
  • And of course, an open offer for support from us along the way via forum / email / phone.

Some tools you'll need.

You'll need some common maker tools such as a screwdriver, side cutters, a sharp knife and a soldering iron. Most makers have this gear already. If you don't, keep in mind these tools are very accessible and useful for countless future projects.

Tools Required for Infinity Mirror Kit

The design of this kit was made possible by our backers on Kickstarter - see who they are on our Backer's Hall of Fame (coming soon - once the campaign has ended)

Documentation and Resources:
  • IoT Plant Monitor
  • So, my wife wanted to have some small plants in the house. I didn’t, so we compromised, and got some plants. The only thing is that neither of us remembers to water them, so I wanted to build a sensor array to monitor the moisture content of the soil, and notify us when they needed watering. We’ve got 3 plants, all fairly close to each other, and I wanted to create an IoT project so that it could send an email notifi...
  • IOT Shed
  • The driver behind this project is to allow the remote control of some of the equipment in my shed. I have a CNC router/laser cutter that uses my compressor and dust extractor whilst it is running, and well whats the point in having a computer comtrolled machine if you have to hang around and turn the other auxiliary bits on and off?!? There are a million ways to skin a cat, and the same is true about this project. However after ...
  • IoT Mailbox
  • Getting letters and parcels is awesome, what’s not so awesome though is when you miss the postman and you don’t know if that important bit of mail arrived or not. Such a frustrating, yet mundane problem can be solved by creating an Internet of Things mailbox!...
  • IoT House
  • These days we can do just about anything on our phone, we can control so many aspects of our lives using the technology in our pocket, but the most mundane aspects of our lives; opening the garage door, blindly reaching for the light switch in the dark, opening the front door when we get home, still relies on manual interaction. So I created the Particle IoT House, which contains servo motors to open and close the front and gara...

Hi again,It worked perfectly for the first day, then the next day only 1 row of yellow leds showed, then nothing after that.I checked all the solder joints and cleaned to no avail.
I downloaded and installed the original data 4 times and the led on the photon confirmed every thing went ok - but no led strips lit up(I checked the solder joints to the led strips)I've given up now and assume I need another particle photon. Thanks Richard. (Posted on 21/06/2018)

Well prepared kit, no problems with assembly, but
I would have liked three hand to put on the mirror film, a few bubbles. The mirror works well, now I will have find some time to try setting up the programming, some thing new to learn. (Posted on 25/12/2017)

This is an excellent kit. The instructions are good, and the instructional videos make it a breeze to assemble. The quality of parts is excellent with no issues during assembly.

The finished product looks great, and the possibility to create your own effects is excellent.

This would make a great gift for anyone who has an interest in electronics. (Posted on 22/12/2017)

I haven't had a chance to assemble this yet, but the kit is well made, well packed and nicely presented. The instructions are very clear, and I'm sure the results will be superb. (Posted on 14/12/2017)

This is an extremely clever kit - and the finished unit looks awesome.
May I suggest a bigger unit so that it could be made into a coffee table.
I'd happily give this project 5 starts - all the parts fit perfectly, and the instructions (watch the video) are clear and make construction a breeze. (Posted on 14/12/2017)
