The LED is arguably one of the most essential components in any maker project, from the Blink sketch and beyond. This pack will equip your workspace with plenty of the most common LEDs you'll ever need. You'll have 20 LEDs in the following colors to mix into your projects; Red, Green, Yellow, Blue and White (That's 100 total).

Ideal for Makers - 5mm through-hole LEDs are simply put, the most common LED you'll see in most projects. You can insert them straight into your breadboard, solder into veroboard, connect out to GPIO pins, or even mount them into a project panel as indicator lights.

Assorted Colors - With 5 colors to choose from, you'll have options for different uses.

Connection and compatibility - We find that these LEDs work well with between 2.5 - 3V at around 20mA current.

How to use these LEDs in your project

When using LEDs the first thing you need to be aware of is that they are polarised components. Identify the Anode and Cathode legs of your LED. The quick and easy way is that the short leg is the Cathode (connected to GND/Negative). Next, you'll typically need a resistor in series to protect the LED from burning itself out. There are many creative ways to use LEDs in your projects, but this should let you hit the ground running.

We're wizards with LEDs (if we do say so), incorporating them into projects left-right and center. We wrote one of the most comprehensive guides on LEDs that goes in-depth on all aspects of LEDs. If you need any help with LEDs in your projects, we're here to help!
