If you're looking for the ultimate touchscreen for your Raspberry Pi, then look no further. This 7" Official Raspberry Pi Foundation display is perfect for all kinds of projects and allows your Pi to mount on the back with all of the cables hidden from view.

Featuring a resolution of 800x400 pixels, getting started with a touchscreen display has never been easier. You simply connect power via USB from the control board to your Pi, and attach the included ribbon cable to the DSI socket on the Pi board. That's it! No drivers, no fancy software or configuration. It works with the 10-point capacitive touch, straight out of the box. To sweeten the deal, the latest version of Raspbian OS includes an on-screen keyboard, freeing your from both keyboard and mouse.

Kit contains:

  • 7” Touchscreen Display
  • Adapter Board
  • DSI Ribbon cable
  • 4 x stand-offs and screws (used to mount the adapter board and Raspberry Pi board to the back of the display
  • 4 x jumper wires (used to connect the power from the Adapter Board and the GPIO pins on the Pi so the 2Amp power is shared across both units)

Note: Raspberry Pi and power supply are NOT included! Comptaible with Raspberry Pi 3, 2, Model B+, and Model A+. The display will technically work with the Model A and Model B boards (connecting it to the DSI port on the Pi board), however the mounting holes on the back of the display will only line up with the newer board designs (A+, B+ and Pi2).

Technical Details

  • Screen Dimensions: 194mm x 110mm x 20mm (including standoffs)
  • Viewable screen size: 155mm x 86mm
  • Screen Resolution 800 x 480 pixels
  • 10 finger capacitive touch.
  • Connects to the Raspberry Pi board using a ribbon cable connected to the DSI port.
  • Adapter board is used to power the display and convert the parallel signals from the display to the serial (DSI) port on the Raspberry Pi.
  • Will require the latest version of Raspbian OS to operate correctly.

  • We've built a mass SD card writer using a Raspberry Pi 3 Model B, some USB hubs and SD card readers. This beast has enough ports to write 49 SD cards at once! During these periods we have to pick up the slack by manually imaging blank SD cards we source ourselves. Of course, this is a super-tedious process, and ...

The Pi Foundation touchscreen display is a great piece of equipment and is actually very easy to connect to the Pi even with no prior experience. (Posted on 14/09/2017)

This does what it says on the tin.

The 7 inch touch screen works with little or no effort on the Raspberry Pi. I've got mine plugged into a RPI 2 running the latest, shiny Raspbian. Linux support for touch screens isn't seamless, and requires more than a little effort for a pleasant experience, but that's hardly this screen's fault.

It would be nice if the resolution was a little higher, as I'm used to my 1080p Nexus 7, but I suspect that I wouldn't be able to tap on anything accurately enough. Still, browsing is cramped enough that I've taken to scaling pages down to 80%.

It's thin, by the way. Really thin. I got a case, and obviously if you bolt a Pi on the back the end result is not a Galaxy Tab, but the raw screen at the edge is remarkably thin.

I expect that I'll use this weekly, if not daily, for many years to come. Recommended. (Posted on 12/09/2017)

Wow this is a beauty, good clear display, touch works great even with protective film on it. Pity it didnt come with a stand or legs, but apart from that, really great, just hook it up and your running (Posted on 7/08/2017)

Great little package, does require some sort of case or stand to be used properly. (Posted on 7/06/2017)

I have installed the screen on my Raspberry Pi unit and it runs perfectly so far. I initially thought the keyboard would display on screen automatically on startup, a quick trip to the help and Sam pointed to match box site and now every thing works OK, great to have backup a click away thanks guys

Having just got into the Raspberry Pi I decided I needed a screen and so I ordered the Pi Foundation 7" Touchscreen from Core Electronics. After it arrived in the post I had it working perfectly in minutes, I have since ordered and received the smarti pi case as well. They compliment each other perfectly. Thanks Core Electronics (what can I buy now?) (Posted on 6/12/2016)
