The Official 7-inch Touchscreen for the Raspberry Pi is the best touchscreen for your Pi project. The 7-inch display is large enough to comfortable view any desktop environment and features a resolution of 800x480 pixels, plenty enough! The capacitive touchscreen is accurate and responsive, and with the new onscreen keyboard in the newest releases of Raspbian OS, you'll have all you need for a standalone Pi project!

  • 7-inch TFT screen - With the 7 inch TFT display, you'll have a resolution of 800x480 crisp pixels to display your Pi's desktop environment, be it Retro-Gaming, OctoPrint, Media Center, or Video Kiosk
  • 10-Point Capacitive Touch - With 10 points of contact available for your touch screen, multi-fingered gestures and more are possible right on the display. No keyboard/mouse required.
  • Same-sized Adapter Board - The adaptor board that runs the screen matches the form factor of the Raspberry Pi. This means you can mount it to your Pi and use a short DSI ribbon to connect the display.
  • Mounting hardware included - Mounting the adaptor and display together is straightforward, with all the hardware you need included in the package.
  • Power supplied from the Pi - You don't need a standalone power supply for the screen, simply siphon power from the Pi and it's power supply via the GPIO or USB connectors.
  • Enclosures and Cases - As it's official hardware, there's plenty of enclosures and cases available that are rock-solid designs made by Pi Foundation supporters.

Note: Raspberry Pi and power supply are NOT included in this kit! See the guides below to learn how to setup your screen using the Raspberry Pi's power supply. If you need a complete kit, we've got the Touchscreen Kit for Raspberry Pi that includes everything you need.

Hookup Guide

The display will technically work with the older Model A and Model B boards (connecting it to the DSI port on the Pi board), however the mounting holes on the back of the display will only line up with the newer board designs (A+, B+ and Pi2). Once it's all connected up, reboot or power up your Raspberry Pi and it will auto-detect the display and you'll be away!

We're full-time makers and love Raspberry Pi, we've used this display as a monitor in multiple projects and have written some guides on how to get it working, how to enable/disable touch, rotating the display and more!

  • Summary A Raspberry Pi 3B is used to collect digital counts from an electronic rain gauge (1mm of rain per reed switch closure by magnetic see-saw). It has been running without issues for over 12 months. A UPS powers the Pi so it is immune from short power glitches. The total count is displayed on an LCD screen with reset and inc/dec test buttons. “To HTML” and “To LCD” routines are also included to simp...
  • Television Media Centre
  • Introduction: I have a flat screen television that is about 7 years old that I purchased before Smart TVs were commonly available. What I wanted to achieve with My Pi project was to turn my slightly old TV into a media centre. I wanted to play music through my TV as well as play saved movies and stream internet content. It was important for me to be able to stream ABC iView and SBS On Demand as they provide a free service and ...

During these periods we have to pick up the slack by manually imaging blank SD cards we source ourselves. Of course, this is a super-tedious process, and ...

Excellent quality on these; ours we are looking to mount into a wall as part of a smart home set up. The solid mounting on the back should make doing this a breeze! (Posted on 31/10/2018)

  7. Review by Paul - This product will work out of the box with Raspbian verified purchaser

No software help whatsoever was provided, so if you're not using a Pi Linux distro with drivers already included, you're on your own. It's assumed that you are going to power it via GPIO pins; in my opinion inclusion of a USB splitter cable would have been more useful.

Note from Core Electronics staff - this product will work out of the box with Raspbian (the default operating system that can be installed via NOOBS). (Posted on 29/01/2018)

The Pi Foundation touchscreen display is a great piece of equipment and is actually very easy to connect to the Pi even with no prior experience. (Posted on 14/09/2017)

This does what it says on the tin.

The 7 inch touch screen works with little or no effort on the Raspberry Pi. I've got mine plugged into a RPI 2 running the latest, shiny Raspbian. Linux support for touch screens isn't seamless, and requires more than a little effort for a pleasant experience, but that's hardly this screen's fault.

It would be nice if the resolution was a little higher, as I'm used to my 1080p Nexus 7, but I suspect that I wouldn't be able to tap on anything accurately enough. Still, browsing is cramped enough that I've taken to scaling pages down to 80%.

It's thin, by the way. Really thin. I got a case, and obviously if you bolt a Pi on the back the end result is not a Galaxy Tab, but the raw screen at the edge is remarkably thin.

I expect that I'll use this weekly, if not daily, for many years to come. Recommended. (Posted on 12/09/2017)

Wow this is a beauty, good clear display, touch works great even with protective film on it. Pity it didnt come with a stand or legs, but apart from that, really great, just hook it up and your running (Posted on 7/08/2017)

Great little package, does require some sort of case or stand to be used properly. (Posted on 7/06/2017)

Great screen, especially with the SmartPi Touch stand. (Posted on 11/05/2017)

I have installed the screen on my Raspberry Pi unit and it runs perfectly so far. I initially thought the keyboard would display on screen automatically on startup, a quick trip to the help and Sam pointed to match box site and now every thing works OK, great to have backup a click away thanks guys

Having just got into the Raspberry Pi I decided I needed a screen and so I ordered the Pi Foundation 7" Touchscreen from Core Electronics. After it arrived in the post I had it working perfectly in minutes, I have since ordered and received the smarti pi case as well. They compliment each other perfectly. Thanks Core Electronics (what can I buy now?) (Posted on 6/12/2016)
