Gas and Air Supply

The MetalFab doesn't come with gas, so it's worth planning for it before it arrives. What you need depends on the metal and how thick it is:

• Compressed air: the cheapest to run. With the xTool Air Compressor and Dryer and the included SaveGas nozzle, it cuts up to 5 mm stainless, 4 mm aluminium and 3 mm brass, plus carbon and galvanised steel under 2 mm. Expect some dross on 3–4 mm aluminium.
• Oxygen: for carbon and galvanised steel 2 mm and thicker. Use it with the Double-layer Cutting Nozzle Set. The cut edges will oxidise.
• Nitrogen or argon: clean, unoxidised edges on stainless, aluminium and brass. You'll also need one of these as shielding gas for welding.

Don't cut copper or other highly reflective metals. They can damage the machine.

Assist gases and cutting notes

• Burr‑free stainless/aluminium/brass up to listed thicknesses using compressed air or Nitrogen/Argon; further savings with SaveGas nozzle plus xTool's compressor and dryer
• For thick carbon steel, use high‑purity oxygen at low pressure with the double‑layer nozzle set (D1.0 < 8 mm; D1.2 ≥ 8 mm).

Included Filtration

• SafetyPro AP2 Max Air Purifier removes fumes/particulates for indoor operation when appropriately ducted.

Compliance and safety

Class 4 laser system. Operators must use appropriate PPE and follow local regulations. For AU/NZ mains, a 230–240 VAC 21A supply on a dedicated high-power circuit is required; installation by a licensed electrician is required.
