Crisp 1280 × 800 pixels across a 7-inch IPS panel, driven straight off the Raspberry Pi's DSI connector at up to 60Hz. It is a proper desktop-grade display for projects that have outgrown a small SPI screen.

Because the panel talks to the Pi over MIPI DSI rather than HDMI, the entire 40-pin GPIO header stays free for your own hardware, and there is no second USB cable needed for touch. A single ribbon carries video.

The front is a 6H-hardness toughened glass cover, optically bonded to the panel so there is no air gap between glass and pixels — sharper contrast, fewer internal reflections and nowhere for dust to settle. A wide colour gamut backlight pushes chroma out to 68% NTSC.

Mounting is direct: M2.5 screws hold a Raspberry Pi 5 or 4B against the back of the display, and spring-loaded pogo pins take 5V and I2C straight from the board, so no separate lead is required (but one is included for CM boards).

Features

  • Stays legible from any angle — an IPS panel with a 178° viewing cone, rather than the washed-out TFT used on cheaper 7-inch screens
  • Richer, truer colour thanks to a wide colour gamut LED backlight rated at 68% NTSC
  • Optical bonding removes the air gap behind the glass, improving clarity outdoors and sealing the panel against dust
  • Ten-point capacitive touch over I2C, so pinch, rotate and multi-finger gestures behave as expected (the usable point count depends on your operating system)
  • 6H toughened glass cover stands up to daily prodding in kiosk, workshop and HMI builds
  • Leaves all 40 GPIO pins available — the DSI ribbon carries both video and touch
  • Backlight brightness is adjustable in software: the Raspberry Pi OS Screens control panel, Waveshare's brightness utility, or a single command written to /sys/class/backlight
  • Display and touch rotate together in Trixie and Bookworm, useful for portrait dashboards and instrument panels
  • Works with Raspberry Pi 5, CM5, 4B, CM4, 3B+, 3A+, 3B and CM3, with driver overlays supplied for both current and legacy Raspberry Pi OS releases
  • Ships with every cable and fastener needed for a Pi 5, a 4B or a Compute Module IO board — no separate accessory order
