If your Pi is in need of a safe place to chill out and look fantastic at the same time, then look no further than the official case/enclosure by the Raspberry Pi Foundation. This case is purpose built for the Pi 3 so the onboard LEDs can be easily seen through the case. Besides that nifty feature there are some other niceties:

  • Designed and manufactured by the official Raspberry Pi Foundation. Support the team behind Pi!
  • The case is modular, 5 pieces all up. This allows for the "top" to be removed, or the "sides"
  • Removable GPIO side is provided for easy access to the 40-Pin GPIO port
  • Allows easy access to camera, display ports and attached Raspberry HAT device
  • 4 rubber feet with sticky bits to attach to the bottom of the case (included, although not attached to the case by default)
  • Dimensions: 96 x 70 x 25mm

It has ample room in the case to allow for air flow and heatsinks to be mounted on the chips.

Note: Raspberry Pi 3 not included.

The case as it comes needed to be modified to fit the
SenseHat in. I just used a sharp chisel to knock the 4 nubs (that position the rpi on the bottom) off level with the bottom of the case. Also the long thin projection on the red top piece needed to be removed. Viola! it fits. (Posted on 23/10/2017)

No air flow what so ever. The flirc case is a far better choice especially if it's actually in use a lot. Get yourself a heat sink and mini fan if using this case with heavy usage, the flirc case comes with all that I believe. Definitely an oversight by the dev teams. (Posted on 10/05/2017)

Excellent modular case. Easy to assemble and disassemble with no screws. Only issue with this case is that while there is an SD Card opening, it is impossible to remove the SD Card without taking the whole case apart with Raspberry Pi3 Model B as the mechanism is not a push to eject type, rather pull and you can't get a grip on the SD card.
