Capture high-quality images and videos with your Raspberry Pi. Connect this official camera to your Pi's dedicated camera port, and follow our easy getting-started guide to start capturing the world!

The improved camera module 3 boasts a 12MP sensor along with a high dynamic range mode, ultra-fast auto-focus, and a rich library of software commands to take control of your shot.

If you want to capture more check out the Wide angle version, and if night vision is your thing have a look at the NoIR Camera 3 (also available with a wide lens)

Installation

The included ribbon cable should connect to the CSI connector on your Pi (next to the HDMI ports), to connect to the Pi Zero you'll need a Raspberry Pi Zero Camera Adapter.

Notes:

  • The camera module 3 does not support the Legacy camera interface. You will need to use the Libcamera commands as the Raspistill and Raspivid commands are no longer supported.
  • The new V3 camera will require a firmware update to run if your version of Raspberry Pi OS is from before January 2023.
  • For use on the Raspberry Pi 5 you will need an adapter cable.
