This "throw-in" type liquid sensor adopts a high-performance pressure sensor, complete with temperature compensation. You could use this pressure data to determine the depth of liquid above the sensor, and therefore the volume of liquid in a container

The shell of the sensor is made of stainless steel, a naturally anti-corrosive and easy-to-clean material. It can be directly placed in liquids like water, oil or even something thicker!

Since this sensor outputs a fairly obscure current output (yep, not voltage), DFRobot have bundled in their analog current to voltage converter board to make this sensor usable with Arduinos or similar microcontrollers

Specifications

  • Cable length: 5m
  • Measurement range: 0-5m
  • Accuracy: 0.5%
  • Output signal: 4-20mA
  • Operating voltage: 12-36V
  • Operating temperature: -20°C - 70°C
  • Material: 316L stainless steel
  • Ingress protection: IP68

Usage Notes:

  • Make sure you connect the power supply exactly as shown in the diagram on the Product Wiki
  • The workings of this sensor are fairly fragile. Make sure you don't disassemble or drop the device, or puncture its diaphragm with any sharp objects
  • This sensor requires a pre-heating period of about 30 minutes with the power supply connected before accurate readings can be made
