The 8*8 64-Pixel Matrix Time-of-Flight (ToF) Sensor is a compact and efficient 3D depth-sensing solution that bridges the gap between simple distance sensors and complex depth cameras. Powered by onboard firmware running on an RP2040 microcontroller, it delivers real-time depth data across an 8×8 matrix of 64 points within a 60° field of view, with a detection range of up to 3.5 meters. Featuring low power consumption and plug-and-play compatibility, it is well-suited for robotics, interactive art, gesture recognition, and smart automation. With support for Arduino, micro:bit, ESP32, Raspberry Pi, and LattePanda, it enables the development of advanced applications such as intelligent obstacle avoidance, contactless gesture control, and immersive interactive installations.

3D Depth Perception at the Perfect Balance Point

This 3D robot obstacle avoidance sensor bridges the gap between basic ultrasonic sensors and high-cost AI depth cameras. Instead of seeing a single point, it generates a 64-pixel depth map that provides context—the obstacle, the open path, the edge of a table. This enables smooth, intelligent navigation without the complexity and processing demands of advanced cameras. With affordable pricing and ultra-low power usage, it offers the “just right” level of 3D vision for a wide range of creative projects.

Unmatched Compatibility for Maker Projects

This Matrix ToF proximity sensor was built for the way makers work, designed to connect to virtually anything in the workshop.

  • Supported Platforms: Arduino, micro:bit, ESP32, Raspberry Pi, LattePanda, UNIHIKER K10.
  • Supported Programming Methods: Whether using the Arduino IDE, or graphical editors like Mind+ and MakeCode, libraries and tutorials are available.
  • Connection Options: Support Gravity-I2C / UART / USB-C.
  • Cascading Support: The 4 switchable I2C addresses let you daisy-chain up to four sensors together for a massive field of view.

Expandable Platform for Advanced Development

In addition to plug-and-play use, the 64-Pixel Matrix ToF Vision Sensor can serve as a flexible development platform. Its onboard RP2040 processor allows developers to load custom firmware or run lightweight machine learning models (TinyML), making it possible to recognize specific gestures, detect movement patterns, or add new features directly on the sensor itself. With open-source schematics and comprehensive documentation, the module can be tailored for advanced robotics, IoT, and AI-driven applications, offering far more than a fixed-function sensor.
