Hey guys! Pat here from Core Electronics and in front of me here I have the mBot Ranger again. Now in this video we are going to go through the build process of building the mBot Ranger, we are going to be building the Land Raider configuration.

I'm going to upload the original firmware to the Land Raider from the computer and then I'm going to download the Makeblock app on my phone and connect to it through Bluetooth so I can show you it driving around. Let us look at all the parts for the Land Raider, so I have taken everything out of the box and set it out, everything we need for the Land Raider build. Now in the middle here we have the ME Auriga, we have the anodized aluminium frame, which is really robust so it's great for classrooms, we have the two encoded matte motors, we have the iconic Land Raider caterpillar tracks, we have the two sensors that we saw from the mBot, we have some tools here and finally we have the wheels and the cables and other hardware, now let's get on to the build.

There we have the mBot Ranger of land Raider Edition, now let's jump onto the computer and have a look at some code. So we’ve opened the mBlock app, now what I'm going to do is just jump into Arduino mode, so that's under edit and Arduino mode which brings up all the controls for programming the mBot and the Air Bot Ranger, so next what we want to do is we want to make sure we're connected to the correct serial port so we just go down to connect, serial port comm five, after that we jump into boards and make sure you've selected the mBot Ranger so it can't be the mBot otherwise you'll upload the wrong firmware. Now we go connect and reset the default program and click the mBot Ranger, now that's going to take a second or two but after we've done that, we're going to have the original firmware on the main board.

So, now that we have the original firmware on the board we can actually communicate to the raider through our Bluetooth phone, so what I'm going to do is show you how to download the app through the Play Store, you can also get it on Apple iOS, so we're going to download it from the Play Store and then I'm going to show you a quick step through guide of how to get started with it so I already downloaded it, but basically you want to download this one here which is the Makeblock app it's not mBot, mBot is the programming idea on the phone, so I've already downloaded it so I'm just going to open it here.

Now you'll be open to this screen here where it says play and basically all you want to do is click drive or the program that you want to connect to, put your device near the Ranger, click connect and you should get a connection in a few seconds, there we go and this is the screen that you're going to see now what we can do is we can drive forward, backwards, we can turn and so that's how you upload and start playing with your mBot Ranger.

Now if you had any more questions on the Ranger or you just want to find out more take a look at our tutorials page on Core Electronics or don't hesitate to get in contact with us through the forum to ask any questions you like, thanks a lot for watching!
