The SiPy is a triple bearer MicroPython enabled microcontroller perfect enterprise-grade IoT platform for your connected Things. If you are purchasing the SiPy and wish to connect via USB to your computer, you will also need to purchase either the Expansion Board 3.0, Pysense  or Pytrack.

The SiPy is a multi-network (Sigfox, WiFi and BLE) development platform. It is programmable with MicroPython and the Pymakr IDE for fast IoT application development, easy programming in-field and extra resilience with network failover. The best blend of speed to deployment and access to new LPWAN networks rolling out across Europe, USA, Africa and India. You can also configure the SiPy in FSK mode to send packets directly from SiPy to SiPy. This way you can create the network configuration of your choice and then use another SiPy as central Nano-Gateway to forward the data to the cloud via WiFi. Our module is CE, FCC, IC and RCM certified!

NOTE: The SiPy includes 2-years of Sigfox connectivity.

NOTE: Using the Sigfox radio without the external antenna can lead to damage of the device and is therefore not recommended.

    The SiPy works well, currently sending temperature from the Pysense to Sigfox every 15 mins as a test platform.
    It arrived safely from Core Electronics in the mail (with the Pysense, Antenna and battery). The recommended step to initially upgrade the firmware was a straightforward technical process, taking care to follow the instructions (provided via links from the Core Electronics and device documentation). Both the Pysense and SiPy need firmware updating.
    The Pysense provided the USB connection to the SiPy.
    Atom with the Pymakr package connected readily with the SiPy, in my case via USB or wifi. The SiPy wifi worked well as a means to connect to Atom but I haven't used the wifi beyond that.
    The process to register the SiPy with Sigfox was straightforward, noting that the steps above to upgrade firmware and connect with the SiPy are needed to access the registration data for Sigfox.
    I installed the Sipy and Pysense in the Pycom IP67 Case, drilling a hole for the Antenna, and fixing the LiPo battery to the lid with a glue gun. This was the only 'construction' work for the project, as the SiPy and Pysense are fitted to the box with screws (provided) and the battery connects with a standard connector. The Pysense charges the battery when connected to power. I used machine.deepsleep() in the micropython programming for the 15 minute time between temperature reading/send to minimise battery drain. Transmission has been reliable so far. (Posted on 1/02/2018)
