BeagleBone is a line of compact single-board computers, much like the Raspberry Pi platform. They're modeled after the larger BeagleBoard, but designed to offer a smaller footprint and a smaller price. They run Linux, and are a completely open source platform which makes them perfect for hackers, makers, educators, and business. Much like other brands such as Arduino and Raspberry Pi, BeagleBone have a line of easy-to-use hardware boards known as 'capes'. It also has GPIO pins which can be configured for use by code running on the board. Combined with onboard storage for the operating system and user files, BeagleBone is a fantastic option for your next project.
