Hey guys, I'm Sam from Core Electronics and today I'm going to show you how to fit the Raspberry Pi in a couple of cases. So I've got two cases here which can be a little bit tricky to put your Pi in, but it's quite straightforward once you get how.
Now the first thing you need to make sure is that you don't have anything plugged into the Pi, that includes your SD card, super important. All right, no jacks, no anything, just the Pi board.
So I've got here the official Raspberry Pi case with the top on here and I'll run through this one first and then we've got the clear case designed to mount the fan as well. There's another version in black but they're exactly the same form function.
So for the official Pi case, I see a lot of people taking the side bits off and all the rest, and it's not really necessary. All you want to do is get the case, put the Pi in and make sure that you've got the HDMI, the audio and the micro USB jacks lined up. You need to be willing to take this side one off.
All right, so we'll go through and I can see that they're lined up and so there, just drop it in, drop it down and then angle it slightly. There we go and I can see that they're all aligned with that cutout nicely and I can push the rest of the case down and I can see that it lines up with these standoffs nicely as well there. Chuck the side on, put the top on and there you have it. You can put your microSD card in easily there, stacks of room, all your ports, no worries.
So now we'll take a look at the clear case. Pi out of this one, put those to the side. Now the clear case is a little trickier but it's the same concept. So I'll take off the top and again, making sure you don't have an SD card plugged into it. It's an easy mistake to make.
So for this, it's easy to think that you want to line the USB ports and the ethernet port up and drop it into place but this will result in it not being aligned properly due to the orientation of the micro USB port. So first you want to put it in on quite a severe angle and what you're doing here is you're making sure that the audio jack, once again the audio jack, HDMI port and the micro USB are in and you'll almost see them poking out the side there and that's good. I can see that they're all firmly in and the ethernet port should just be stopping it from dropping in there and now you just drop it, a bit of a push and I can see all the standoffs are nicely aligned, everything lines up perfectly and I've got the microSD slot there, very easily accessible, everything's on. You can get the screws for the case, go on, screw it in and clip the top on and that's all there is to putting the Pi into two of our most popular Raspberry Pi cases.
I'll see you next time guys.
