One of the more exciting features of the Circuit Playground Express is that it can be programmed four different ways.
The first way we can program it is called MakeCode and it's a drag-and-drop visual interface allows you to make really rewarding programs without needing to know all the nitty-gritty details programming.
The second way that we can program is called Circuit Python. Circuit Python is based on the Python programming language and it's designed with ease of use and ease of programming in mind. It takes Python and it adds functionality for a microcontroller.
The third way we can program is JavaScript and it's what runs in the background when we program and MakeCode and that's not a programming language that's been super popular amongst the maker community or microcontrollers, but it's a nice option to be able to use it.
The final way we can program with the Circuit Playground Express is with Arduino. There's a wealth of knowledge available out there, so many people are using it in writing programs with it and sharing it, there's enough info out there to get through any problem.
In the next chapter, we're going to learn what is MakeCode, how to connect to your Circuit Playground to your computer, how to power up your board and how to load your first program.
