DFRobot has provided users with hundreds of sensors of all kinds. However, many of them output raw electrical signals like current, voltage, etc., and for obtaining standard units of physical quantities, users need to look for relevant information in the product datasheets and convert data by formulas or coding. Meanwhile, the data format varies with different sensors, so most sensors require unique controlling programs. These would raise the bar for using sensors. Therefore, DFRobot develops this Gravity: SCI DAQ module that allows users to get sensor data in a simpler way.
The Gravity: SCI DAQ module is a multi-functional data acquisition module. At present, it supports 20 kinds of common sensors such as temperature & humidity, barometric pressure, etc. The module integrates functions like data display, sensor auto recognition, data storage, RTC clock, and data optimisation, which could be ideal for exploratory experiments. Users can direct view of sensor data through the onboard screen.
Besides, the module features 16M storage for saving data in real-time. And the built-in RTC clock can offer accurate time tags for every piece of data to be stored. Also, the SCI DAQ module standardizes the output data format, which means users can get sensor data with the same program on controllers like Arduino UNO, or UNIHIKER regardless of which sensor is being used.
The module significantly reduces the difficulty of getting sensor data, which allows users to more focus on data analysis and helps STEAM teachers conveniently implement interdisciplinary teachings.
- Screen display: The SCI DAQ Module has a built-in screen that can display real-time sensor data, making it easier for users to observe.
- Automatic sensor recognition: The SCI DAQ Module can automatically recognize the type of I2C sensor connected, eliminating the need for manual settings and improving ease of use.
- Sensor calibration: The SCI DAQ Module can perform sensor calibration on the board to ensure the accuracy and reliability of data.
- Data storage: The SCI DAQ Module has 16M of data storage space and can store over 400,000 pieces of data. The stored data can be exported to a computer via a Type-C interface, making it convenient for users to analyze and process data.
- RTC clock: The SCI DAQ Module has a high-precision real-time clock (RTC) that can record the timestamp for each data acquisition. This helps users easily track data trends and quickly perform data analysis and processing.
- Data optimization: The SCI DAQ Module can automatically convert the raw signals from sensors into physical quantity data and output them in a standard format of "timestamp name1:value1 unit1, name2:value2 unit2". It can also get specific values or units for a name. The SCI DAQ module unifies the data format of different sensors, eliminating the need to load individual library codes for each sensor when programming. This simplifies the programming process and reduces the difficulty of obtaining data from the main controller.
- Multiple power supply options: The SCI DAQ Module has multiple power supply options, including Type-C interface, PH2.0 battery port, and I2C interface. Users can choose different power supply methods to flexibly meet different needs in different scenarios. If mobile data acquisition is required for outdoor practices, users can use battery power via the PH2.0 battery port, while I2C interface power can start working just by connecting to the controller. Regardless of the power supply method used, the SCI DAQ Module can ensure stable operation, providing users with a reliable data acquisition experience.
- I2C output: The SCI DAQ Module can output optimized sensor data through an I2C interface, which makes data reading and processing more convenient for users. The I2C interface is a widely used digital communication interface, allowing the SCI DAQ Module to easily be compatible with a variety of commonly used open-source hardware controllers.
Currently, the SCI DAQ Module supports over 20 common sensors, including temperature and humidity, atmospheric pressure, air quality, oxygen concentration, and more. In the future, we will continue to expand the number of supported sensors, bringing more innovation and application scenarios to users. Whether in scientific exploration, interdisciplinary teaching, or IoT applications, the SCI DAQ Module will be an indispensable data acquisition tool.
