We no longer recommend using Limonene for filament removal. Modern dissolvable filaments such as this will break down in water and have more reliable adhesion.
Limonene is a chemical solvent that dissolves HIPS (High-Impact Polystyrene) filament. If used in combination with a Lulzbot Dual Extruder Tool Head, you can now print dissolvable support material that leaves little to no remnant material on your model! Cool!
Although Limonene is classified as a cosmetic/aromatherapeutic ingredient, it is still relatively dangerous and should be treated as any other cleaning chemical. You can view the entire MSDS here.
We've found that Limonene has no effect on ANY of the other filaments that we stock in our catalogue too, meaning that it will only dissolve the HIPS filament in any combination.
