**Type:** Product page · **SKU:** WS-32049 · **Brand:** [Waveshare](https://core-electronics.com.au/brands/waveshare-in-australia)
**Page:** https://core-electronics.com.au/waveshare-cm5-to-pi-5-adapter-board.html ([markdown](https://core-electronics.com.au/waveshare-cm5-to-pi-5-adapter-board.html.md))

A Raspberry Pi 5-style carrier for your Compute Module 5, with headset audio and microphone input built in.

## Pricing

- **Price:** $35.45 (inc GST) — $32.23 AUD, exc GST

## Availability & dispatch

- Available with a lead time — expect dispatch between Nov 09 and Nov 16.

## How to buy

- **Build a cart:** compose `https://core-electronics.com.au/cart/link?items=WS-32049:1` (comma-separated SKU:qty pairs) and share the link. Opening it shows a confirmation page with live pricing and stock before anything is added to the cart.
- **Verify the cart first:** fetch `https://core-electronics.com.au/cart/link/WS-32049:1.md` for live line prices (inc & exc GST, quantity discounts applied), stock and dispatch estimates, and totals. Append `/to/{AU-postcode}` (or `/to/{country-code}:{postcode}`) before `.md` for delivery options and prices to that destination. Unknown, retired, or out-of-stock SKUs are flagged. (Query form `cart/link.md?items=...` also works but some robots parsers refuse query strings here.)
- **Checkout** is completed on-site and includes a captcha at the payment step. Share the cart link; checkout takes it from there.
- **Search the catalogue:** `https://core-electronics.com.au/search/{query}.md` (URL-encode the query; pages 2-3 at `search/{query}/{page}.md`; `search.md?q=` also works)

## Description

Put a [Compute Module 5](https://core-electronics.com.au/raspberry-pi-compute-module-5.html) on the Raspberry Pi 5's 85 × 56 mm footprint. This carrier board is modelled on the Pi 5's appearance, with Pi 5-compatible interfaces and a 40-pin header for HAT and HAT+ modules.

It also adds something the Pi 5 doesn't have: an onboard USB audio codec and a 3.5 mm headset adapter. You get stereo playback and microphone input without adding a USB sound card.

It accepts every Compute Module 5 variant. To flash an eMMC module, hold BOOT while connecting the USB-C port to a computer. Lite modules boot from a microSD (TF) card. The CM5 needs Raspberry Pi OS Bookworm (2024-11-19 or later) and is sold separately.

### Features

- **Drive two 4K displays** from the 2× micro HDMI ports
- **Add expansion boards over PCIe**: a 16-pin PCIe ×1 connector that runs at Gen2 by default and switches to Gen3 with `dtparam=pciex1_gen=3` in config.txt
- **Run two cameras, two displays, or one of each**: both 4-lane MIPI connectors work as CSI or DSI (a single camera connects to MIPI0)
- **Move data at full speed**: the two USB 3.2 Gen1 ports each run at 5 Gbps at the same time and share one 2 A current limit. The two USB 2.0 ports share 480 Mbps and their own 2 A current limit. The two limits are independent
- **Keep accurate time when unplugged**: an RTC battery header supports wake alarms and optional trickle charging (battery sold separately)
- **Stay cool under load**: a 5 V PWM fan header. The fan starts at 50 °C by default, and you can change the thresholds in config.txt
- **Power over Ethernet ready**: a 4-pin header for a PoE module (sold separately)
- **Clean shutdowns**: short-press the power button to turn on or soft power off, or long-press to force power off. A dual-colour status LED shows board state
- **Work with 1.8 V peripherals**: set the CM5 IO logic level to 3.3 V (default) or 1.8 V
- **Lock down the hardware**: rear function pins for Wi-Fi disable, Bluetooth disable and write protection
