## Description

Take temperature readings from a distance, or underwater, using this Waterproof DS18B20 Digital Temperature Sensor. It's got a 90cm (0.9m) cable with a stainless steel, PVC coated probe at the end. You'll be able to use it with any 3V-5V system, and take temperature readings with an accuracy of 9-12 Bits (configurable in code). The best part is that it's digital, meaning you won't suffer any signal degradation over the longer distance.

- **Waterproof** - Take the temperatures of liquids/moist environments with the stainless steel probe. It's shrouded in PVC plastic too, meaning it will hold it's own in temperatures up to 100 degrees Celsius.
- **Temperature** - Usable from -55 degrees Celsius to 125 degrees Celsius. Accuracy of ~0.5 degrees.
- **Digital** - The digital interface used to relay the readings guarantees minimal signal degradation over the longer distances (~90cm for this standard cable)
- **1-wire interface** - You can have multiple DS18B20s connected to the same central micro-controller pin as each device has a unique identifier hard-coded in.
- **Long range** - 1.5 meters of cable by default, but you can make it longer if needed!
- **Maker friendly** - The DS18B20 chip is able to be powered with 3v - 5.5v which is perfect for maker platforms (Arduino, Raspberry Pi, etc)

### Hook-up guide

This sensor is simple, you've got 3 wires (Power, Ground and Data). You simply need to connect the data pin to an input pin on your micro-controller (Arduino, etc) and the power and ground to power and ground!

**You'll also need to connect a resistor between power and signal wires, as shown in the circuit diagram on [the Sensor's wiki page](https://www.dfrobot.com/wiki/index.php/Waterproof_DS18B20_Digital_Temperature_Sensor_(SKU:DFR0198)).**

You can simply use the One-wire library for any Arduino projects (See the examples below for more in-depth information). We've even made our own tutorial on [using this sensor with a Raspberry Pi!](https://core-electronics.com.au/guides/raspberry-pi/temperature-sensing-with-raspberry_pi/) As always, we're full time maker's with experience using this gear and we're here to help. Make a post in [our forum](https://forum.core-electronics.com.au/) to get more information on anything maker related.
