## Pricing

- **Price:** $33.35 (inc GST) — $30.32 AUD, exc GST
- **Quantity discounts:** 10+ $29.11 (exc GST) · 25+ $28.20 (exc GST)

## Availability & dispatch

- In stock, ships same business day if ordered before 2PM (Australia/Sydney).
- We can dispatch 4 today, and up to 40 more in 7–12 days.

## How to buy

- **Build a cart:** compose `https://core-electronics.com.au/cart/link?items=CE05771:1` (comma-separated SKU:qty pairs) and share the link. Opening it shows a confirmation page with live pricing and stock before anything is added to the cart.
- **Verify the cart first:** fetch `https://core-electronics.com.au/cart/link/CE05771:1.md` for live line prices (inc & exc GST, quantity discounts applied), stock and dispatch estimates, and totals. Append `/to/{AU-postcode}` (or `/to/{country-code}:{postcode}`) before `.md` for delivery options and prices to that destination. Unknown, retired, or out-of-stock SKUs are flagged. (Query form `cart/link.md?items=...` also works but some robots parsers refuse query strings here.)
- **Checkout** is completed on-site and includes a captcha at the payment step. Share the cart link; checkout takes it from there.
- **Search the catalogue:** `https://core-electronics.com.au/search/{query}.md` (URL-encode the query; pages 2-3 at `search/{query}/{page}.md`; `search.md?q=` also works)

## Description

An all-singing, all-dancing time of flight distance sensor that uses PEW PEW LASERS (low-powered ones), Pimoroni's VL53L1X breakout is easy to use with Raspberry Pi or Arduino alike!

These low-power-laser-based time of flight sensors have great accuracy and sampling frequency, and this particular sensor has a wide range of detection, from 4cm to 4 metres.

Use it as a proximity sensor, for presence detection, or as a laser tape measure! The speed, accuracy, and range, make this sensor ideal for collision-avoidance on robots.

It's also compatible with Pimoroni's fancy new [Breakout Garden](https://core-electronics.com.au/breakout-garden-hat.html), where using breakouts is as easy just popping it into one of the six slots and starting to grow your project, create, and code.

### Features

- VL53L1X Time of Flight (ToF) sensor ([datasheet](https://core-electronics.com.au/attachments/localcontent/vl53l1x_11073512ce5.pdf))
- 4-400cm range (27° field of view)
- Up to 50Hz ranging frequency
- +/- 25mm accuracy (+/- 20mm in the dark)
- I2C interface (address 0x29)
- 3.3V or 5V compatible
- Reverse polarity protection
- Compatible with all models of Raspberry Pi, and Arduino
- [Python library](https://github.com/pimoroni/vl53l1x-python)
- Dimensions: 19x19x3.2mm (LxWxH)

### Contains

- VL53L1X breakout
- 1x5 male header
- 1x5 female right-angle header

Pimoroni have designed this breakout board so that you can solder on the piece of right-angle female header and pop it straight onto the bottom left 5 pins on your Raspberry Pi's GPIO header (pins 1, 3, 5, 7, 9).

### Software

Pimoroni's [Python library](https://github.com/pimoroni/vl53l1x-python) makes it straightforward to use your time of flight sensor, providing methods for short, medium, and long range, and returning distances in mm. Pimoroni have also included a couple of [examples](https://github.com/pimoroni/vl53l1x-python/tree/master/examples) that graph distance sensed, and set a threshold distance at which events can be triggered.

*Software does not support Raspbian Wheezy.*
