So, firstly let's look at flowcharts, which are a way to visually see the flow of a program. Up until now, we've been using a linear flow, where every line is executed, in the order that's written.
If you have a look at the workshop page for this section, you'll see an example of this and a flowchart which represents it, but if we wanted to make a decision, we'll have to use something different. If you look at the top I've got process, decision and an error.
The process rectangle is what we would normally use just a single line statement.
The decision diamond evaluates an expression to get a true or false answer and tells it whether to take one of two paths.
The arrow shows the flow of the program and which paths have been taken.
