## Description

*Note: Some cameras may require a firmware update. If the [camera is not detected follow the instructions here](https://forums.raspberrypi.com/viewtopic.php?t=378050).*

AI and a camera combined? Yep, the [Raspberry Pi](https://core-electronics.com.au/raspberry-pi.html) has done it, a match made in heaven.

The Raspberry Pi's AI Camera uses the Sony IMX500, a revolutionary on-chip AI processing and image-capturing powerhouse.

Give your project's main processor time to breathe, all of the machine-learning computations are handled on the camera model itself. This means you can use a more affordable SBC like [the Pi Zero 2 W](https://core-electronics.com.au/CE08211)!

Like a normal camera you can just stream video out, and/or with its AI Model capabilities, you can stream the metadata from the model - you get to choose what information is sent through the ribbon cable.

*If you need a bit more AI computing power consider[ the Pi 5](https://core-electronics.com.au/raspberry-pi/raspberry-pi-5-boards-kits-and-accessories.html) and [the AI Kit](https://core-electronics.com.au/raspberry-pi-ai-kit.html).*
