## Description

The Raspberry Pi 3 Model B (note the plus on the end) was released by the Raspberry Pi Foundation on 14 March 2018. It has a 1.4Ghz Quad-Core Processor, WiFi, Bluetooth, HDMI, USB along with much more. Oh, and it's about the size of a credit card!

At the heart of this board is a Broadcom BCM2837B0 - it's a 64-bit 1.4Ghz Quad-Core processor that is referred to as the "System on Chip" (SoC for short). Alongside the SoC is RAM and other essential hardware, leaving you with an incredibly cost-effective personal computer that has enough oomph to run a range of operating systems, play high definition video, even retro gaming.

**Upgrading from the previous model? Here are some tips:**

- You will need to download the **latest version of NOOBS / Raspbian** for this board to function. Older versions will result with a "Rainbow Screen" along with a "Lightning Bolt" symbol. - The RPi 3 B has the same form factor as the previous RPi 3 B (older RPi 3 enclosures will fit).
- Custom/tight fitting enclosures may have an obstruction with the taller SoC package - doesn't affect anyone using official or popular RPi cases.
