## Description

The Grove Thermal Imaging Camera IR Array MLX90640 brings thermal vision to your projects, mapping temperature across a 32×24 pixel grid from -40 °C to 300 °C in real time. Its wide 110°×75° field of view and Grove I²C interface make it the go-to sensor for environmental monitoring, building diagnostics and heat-sensitive robotics.

Simply plug it into any Grove-compatible board, whether a [Raspberry Pi](https://core-electronics.com.au/raspberry-pi.html) for quick prototyping to visualise thermal changes, spot insulation leaks or augment your robot’s “sight”.

**Technical Specifications**

- Sensor array: MLX90640, 32 × 24 pixels
- Field of view: 110° × 75°
- Temperature range: –40 °C to 300 °C (±1.5 °C accuracy)
- Interface: I²C via Grove connector (3.3 V logic)
- Memory requirement: MCU with ≥20 000 bytes RAM

**How to Use/Installation**

1. Connect the module to a Grove I²C port on your MCU or Grove Base Hat.
2. Ensure your chosen board has at least 20 000 bytes of free RAM (e.g. Arch Mix, Seeeduino Lotus Cortex-M0).
3. Download and install the Arduino or Python libraries from the official wiki.
4. Load the example sketch or script and begin reading temperature frames at up to 8 Hz.
5. Visualise or log the data in your preferred toolchain.

**Compatibility**

- MCUs with ≥20 000 bytes RAM (e.g. **Arch Mix**)
- Seeeduino boards based on SAMD21/SAMD51 (for example, **Seeeduino Lotus Cortex-M0**)
- All [Raspberry Pi](https://core-electronics.com.au/raspberry-pi.html) models, including **Pi Zero**
- Any Grove-enabled host via the [Grove Base Hat](https://core-electronics.com.au/grove-base-hat-for-raspberry-pi.html)
- Other I²C-capable platforms supporting 3.3 V logic and standard Grove cabling
