## Description

Dual-band Wi-Fi, a 3.5inch capacitive touchscreen, essential sensors and power management all arrive on one pocket-sized board, ready for your next dashboard or HMI project.

Most ESP32 display projects start with a development board, a random display module and a weekend of driver wrangling. Here, the ST7796 display controller, FT6336 touch chip, ES8311 audio codec, microphone, speaker and power management are already wired, and documented, so the first thing you design is the UI rather than tinkering with hardware.

The ESP32-C5-WROOM-1U module brings 2.4GHz and 5GHz Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5 (LE) and IEEE 802.15.4 for Zigbee 3.0 and Thread, so the same board can sit on a 5GHz network and still talk to other Zigbee or Thread devices.

Power, flashing and serial all run over the single Type-C port, and development is supported in both ESP-IDF and Arduino IDE. A QMI8658 6-axis IMU, SHTC3 temperature and humidity sensor, PCF85063 RTC and microSD slot make this board versatile enough for any smart home project - orientation, climate, timekeeping and storage are covered before you add a single external module.

### Features

- Runs on a 5GHz network as happily as 2.4GHz, thanks to the dual-band ESP32-C5-WROOM-1U module - useful where the 2.4GHz band is congested
- Joins Zigbee 3.0 and Thread meshes via onboard IEEE 802.15.4, so the board can bridge a smart-home network rather than just join one
- Drives rich LVGL interfaces without running out of room, with 8MB PSRAM, 32MB flash, 384KB SRAM and a RISC-V core clocked to 240MHz
- Reads clearly off-axis on a 3.5inch IPS panel at 320 × 480 and 262K colours, with capacitive touch over I2C and display over SPI
- Handles two-way voice out of the box - ES8311 codec, NS4150B amplifier, onboard microphone and speaker for AI assistants and offline voice control
- Senses motion and climate without extra breakouts, courtesy of the QMI8658 6-axis IMU and SHTC3 temperature and humidity sensor
- Keeps time and logs data through a PCF85063 RTC and a microSD slot
- Runs untethered when you add a 3.7V lithium battery to the MX1.25 header, with AXP2101 charge management handled onboard
- Expands via a 2.54mm female header plus UART, I2C and spare GPIO, with an MX1.25 header for an external speaker
- Accepts an optional BF3901 camera on the onboard camera interface for vision projects
- Two programmable side buttons (PWR and BOOT) are free for your own functions once flashing is done
- Develops in ESP-IDF or Arduino IDE, with Waveshare demos and a documented wiki to start from
