## Description

What happens when a powerful 120Mhz ARM Cortex processor is combined with 3G Cellular data capabilities and paired with the world's most intuitive and capable cloud-based programming environment? You get the Particle Electron!

That's right, the Electron board features the same amazing spec sheet as found on the Photon, but with almost double the GPIO pins. The Electron will work out of the box in almost any country thanks to the incredible soft-sim network that the kind folks over at Particle.io have setup and you can program, communicate with and monitor your Electron no matter where it is, from anywhere in the world! Because the Electron is a cellular board, your kit includes the microSim that you need to get started with it, and data usage and rates are accessible from the Particle console.

The Particle.io IDE is based on the same coding abstraction as Arduino which makes it easy for new coders to get started, and the fully fleshed C language gives enough power and flexibility for any project! Check out some of the Electron tech specs:

- 3G Cellular connectivity
- STM32F205 ARM Cortex M3 processor
- 120Mhz clock speed
- 1MB flash memory
- 128KB RAM
- UART, JTAG, I2C, SPI, ADC, DAC, CAN and USB hardware peripherals
- 3.3V operating voltage
- This Electron 3G Kit is for Australia / America (850/1900 MHz)

Particle's 1MB monthly data plan:

- $2.99/month for 1MB (thousands of messages)
- No contracts, cancel anytime. $0.99/each additional MB

All of this seamlessly integrates with [Particle.io](https://www.particle.io/) which has a fully fledged cloud-based IDE to program your board Over-the-Air (OTA), monitor your devices and logs, plus intuitively integrate webhooks and IoT services. With official support for channels like IFTTT, the Electron is truly in a class of its own. It connects to your computer/power via microUSB and also has exposed Vin pins for use with external power supplies and batteries.

The Particle cloud is designed to be simple and intuitive enough for DIY enthusiasts and makers, yet powerful and highly integrated to be the next platform of choice for startups and big businesses alike. For more info on the Photon and it's cloud functionality, check out the Particle docs.
