**Type:** Product page · **SKU:** CE11179 · **Brand:** [Elecfreaks](https://core-electronics.com.au/brands/elecfreaks-australia)
**Page:** https://core-electronics.com.au/elecfreaks-micro-bit-pu-robot-kit-robot-only.html ([markdown](https://core-electronics.com.au/elecfreaks-micro-bit-pu-robot-kit-robot-only.html.md))

A joy-bringing little humanoid robot that walks, dances and can map a room on its own. Control, program and learn.

## Pricing

- **Price:** $260.00 (inc GST) — $236.36 AUD, exc GST

## Availability & dispatch

- Available with a lead time — expect dispatch between Sep 21 and Sep 25.

## How to buy

- **Build a cart:** compose `https://core-electronics.com.au/cart/link?items=CE11179:1` (comma-separated SKU:qty pairs) and share the link. Opening it shows a confirmation page with live pricing and stock before anything is added to the cart.
- **Verify the cart first:** fetch `https://core-electronics.com.au/cart/link/CE11179:1.md` for live line prices (inc & exc GST, quantity discounts applied), stock and dispatch estimates, and totals. Append `/to/{AU-postcode}` (or `/to/{country-code}:{postcode}`) before `.md` for delivery options and prices to that destination. Unknown, retired, or out-of-stock SKUs are flagged. (Query form `cart/link.md?items=...` also works but some robots parsers refuse query strings here.)
- **Checkout** is completed on-site and includes a captcha at the payment step. Share the cart link; checkout takes it from there.
- **Search the catalogue:** `https://core-electronics.com.au/search/{query}.md` (URL-encode the query; pages 2-3 at `search/{query}/{page}.md`; `search.md?q=` also works)

## Description

Six robust all-metal servo joints give this desktop humanoid genuine six degree-of-freedom movement, walking, turning, kicking and dancing straight out of the box without a single line of code.

Small humanoid robots usually wobble and topple the moment they start moving. This robots self-balancing head corrects in real time to hold it upright through walking, turning and dancing, and if it does go over it curls inward to absorb the impact while detachable feet take the load off the servos. The fully enclosed shell keeps dust and debris away from the wiring underneath.

An ultrasonic sensor scans continuously from 2 to 400cm, building a simple 2D map for obstacle avoidance and autonomous maze solving, while a built-in microphone picks up the rhythm of nearby music so dance routines adapt to whatever is playing. Programming steps up gradually from MakeCode blocks through JavaScript to Python, and LEGO-compatible mounting points plus a modular backpack let students bolt on their own creations or swap in an external battery pack.

**Please note:** this version does not include [micro:bit boards](https://core-electronics.com.au/micro-bit-australia/boards.html) or [batteries](https://core-electronics.com.au/aaa-battery.html). **Two micro:bit V2** boards are required, one for the robot and one for the handheld controller, and the MakeCode extension will not run on micro:bit V1. The remote controller also needs 2x AAA batteries.

### Features

- Stays upright where comparable humanoids tip over, thanks to a self-balancing head that corrects in real time
- Survives thousands of walks, dances and tumbles on all-metal servo gearing, rather than the plastic gears that strip in budget kits
- Works the moment it is unboxed, with preset routines for dancing, kicking and greeting already loaded
- Navigates a room by itself using ultrasonic mapping, so students see obstacle avoidance and maze solving before they write the logic themselves
- Dances in time to whatever is playing, with onboard rhythm detection adjusting the moves live
- Takes LEGO builds directly on its mounting points and modular backpack, turning the robot into a platform for the student's own design work
- Protects its servos in a fall by curling inward, with detachable feet absorbing the landing
- Runs untethered from the 2.4GHz handheld controller at roughly 10 to 15m indoors
- Grows with the learner across MakeCode, JavaScript and Python, backed by a structured case-by-case curriculum
- Recharges over micro USB, with GPIO and IIC broken out for adding your own sensors
