Retro enthusiasts, hold onto your hats because we've got the best retro gaming case ever made for Raspberry Pi! Say hello to the NESPi by Retroflag. The NESPi is a case for the Raspberry Pi and is the ultimate gaming companion for the current Pi 3. It's is the perfect gift for any vintage gaming enthusiast thanks to the USB, Ethernet and power ports, along with POWER and RESET hardware switches.

It has been meticulously designed to invoke the nostalgic joy of retro gaming systems, but with all the modern features you'd expect. Plug in your wired USB controllers using the two exposed USB ports, and add another two, as well as Ethernet, via the hinged port cover on the top. Simply mount your Raspberry Pi board (Model B or B+, not included) inside, connect up the internal cables, and you've got a retro gaming station that looks the part.

To create a RetroPie setup, at a minimum, you'll need a Raspberry Pi 3 Model B+, a Power Supply, a controller, and a RetroPie micro SD card. If you're looking for a kit that bundles the NESPi with everything you need, then check out our Ultimate Retro Game Console Kit.

Connectivity and Cooling

Connecting your Pi up inside the case is easy. Just plug the Ethernet, USB and GPIO pins in, and you're ready to go. There's also room to mount a 30mm fan inside for additional cooling plus plenty of room for mounting a heatsink. If you'd like to learn more about cooling your Pi and whether you need a heatsink or a fan, take a look at our tutorial for Cooling your Raspberry Pi.

  • Retro Hand held Pi Zero
  • I bought a Pi zero w from Core Electronics for a friend, also bought the official case too but thought I'd fit the Pi into something he can show off! I used an old hand held game case I had laying around, I had to remove the original circuit board and plan where to place the Pi board....

Any Pi can run RetroPie, but I recommend using the Raspberry Pi Ze...
  • Mass SD card Image Writer
  • We've built a mass SD card writer using a Raspberry Pi 3 Model B, some USB hubs and SD card readers. This beast has enough ports to write 49 SD cards at once! At Core Electronics, sometimes logistics hang-ups mean that suppliers cannot meet our demand for pre-flashed SD cards. During these periods we have to pick up the slack by manually imaging blank SD cards we source ourselves. Of course, this is a super-tedious process, and ...

Awesome case. Super easy to use and looks great. (Posted on 23/08/2018)

  2. Review by Adam verified purchaser

If you are looking for a case for your RetroPi setup then you cannot go past this little piece of Nintendo nostalgia. Looks great and all the pieces fit perfectly within the case. Bonus of the restart and on/off switch, just a note if an emulation locks up the Pi, I have found the safe shutdown script will not activate. (Posted on 7/08/2018)

  3. Review by Billy verified purchaser

Super Case, great build, however not including a fan with it even though there is an insert on the top cover for one is cheap. Seriously! Taking nothing away from the case, its great, no issues with an ill fitting the pie.. (Posted on 29/06/2018)

  4. Review by Michael verified purchaser

Looks great and works well. Unfortunately the first one had a loose USB but it was replaced straight away. Thanks for the great service the replacement is working perfectly (Posted on 28/06/2018)
