## How to buy

- **Build a cart:** compose `https://core-electronics.com.au/cart/link?items=POLOLU-1117:1` (comma-separated SKU:qty pairs) and share the link. Opening it shows a confirmation page with live pricing and stock before anything is added to the cart.
- **Verify the cart first:** fetch `https://core-electronics.com.au/cart/link/POLOLU-1117:1.md` for live line prices (inc & exc GST, quantity discounts applied), stock and dispatch estimates, and totals. Append `/to/{AU-postcode}` (or `/to/{country-code}:{postcode}`) before `.md` for delivery options and prices to that destination. Unknown, retired, or out-of-stock SKUs are flagged. (Query form `cart/link.md?items=...` also works but some robots parsers refuse query strings here.)
- **Checkout** is completed on-site and includes a captcha at the payment step. Share the cart link; checkout takes it from there.
- **Search the catalogue:** `https://core-electronics.com.au/search/{query}.md` (URL-encode the query; pages 2-3 at `search/{query}/{page}.md`; `search.md?q=` also works)

## Description

This is the 130-size DC motor used in the larger Pololu plastic gearmotors ([228:1 offset](https://core-electronics.com.au/228-1-plastic-gearmotor-offset-output.html), [120:1 offset](https://core-electronics.com.au/120-1-plastic-gearmotor-offset-output.html), [200:1 90-degree](https://core-electronics.com.au/200-1-plastic-gearmotor-90-output.html), and [120:1 90-degree](https://core-electronics.com.au/120-1-plastic-gearmotor-90-output.html)). It has a recommended operating voltage of 3 – 12 V; at 6 V, the no-load speed is about 11,500 RPM, the no-load current is approximately 70 mA, and the stall current is around 800 mA. For an estimate of the torque, note that the Pololu 228:1 plastic gearmotor produces roughly 100 oz-in of torque at 6 V using this motor, and the Pololu 120:1 plastic gearmotors produce roughly 75 oz-in of torque at 6 V. The output shaft has a diameter of 2 mm.

This motor is not as electrically noisy as the [FA-130 motor](https://core-electronics.com.au/tamiya-980112m-mabuchi-fa-130-motor.html) used in many of the [Tamiya gearboxes](https://core-electronics.com.au/category/34/tamiya-motors-and-gearboxes), and it draws much less current. The two motors are the same size and have similar output power, but, with double the voltage and half the current, these units are generally more convenient to use. If you would like to use lower-current motor controllers with the Tamiya gearboxes, you can simply replace the original Tamiya motor with this and you’ll be set! (Tamiya gearboxes that work with this motor include the popular [70168 Double Gearbox](https://core-electronics.com.au/tamiya-70168-double-gearbox-kit.html) and [70097 Twin-Motor Gearbox](https://core-electronics.com.au/tamiya-70097-twin-motor-gearbox-kit.html).) These motors can also be used to replace those found in the Solarbotics [GM2](https://core-electronics.com.au/solarbotics-gm2-224-1-gear-motor-offset-output.html), [GM3](https://core-electronics.com.au/solarbotics-gm3-224-1-gear-motor-90-deg-output.html), [GM8](https://core-electronics.com.au/solarbotics-gm9-143-1-gear-motor-90-deg-output.html), and [GM9](https://core-electronics.com.au/solarbotics-k-sv-sumovore-mini-sumo-kit.html) gearboxes.
