## Description

Add cellular low-power wide area networking and multi-constellation positioning to a Portenta project. The shield integrates a Cinterion TX62 wireless module by Thales to deliver Cat.M1 and NB-IoT cellular links together with GNSS positioning.

Use it to build asset tracking, remote monitoring and smart-city endpoints that need long battery life and wide coverage. The shield plugs onto Portenta boards and can also be used with Arduino MKR form-factor boards, plus it supports GPS, GLONASS, Galileo and BeiDou for global positioning.

**Technical Specifications**

- Wireless module: Cinterion TX62 (Thales).
- Cellular protocols: LTE Cat.M1, NB-IoT (NB1/NB2); 3GPP Release 14 compliant.
- UMTS support: UMTS bands 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 8, 12(17), 13, 18, 19, 20, 25, 26, 27, 28, 66, 71, 85.
- LTE data rates: 
    - Cat.M1: DL up to 300 kbps, UL up to 1.1 Mbps.
    - Cat.NB1: DL up to 27 kbps, UL up to 63 kbps.
    - Cat.NB2: DL up to 124 kbps, UL up to 158 kbps.
- Short Messaging Service (SMS): point-to-point mobile terminated (MT) and mobile originated (MO) text mode; PDU mode supported.
- GNSS: supports GPS, GLONASS, Galileo and BeiDou.
- Power profile: low-power cellular design (module choice optimised for battery operated IoT applications).
- Antenna: default shield option does not include GSM/UMTS antenna; external antenna connection supported (antenna sold separately).
