## Description

The MQ-2 Analog Gas Sensor module is a maker-friendly sensor used to detect the presence of **flammable gases and smoke**. It produces an **analog voltage output** that changes with gas concentration, making it well suited for DIY projects such as gas-leak indicators, ventilation triggers, and general air/smoke presence monitoring (for prototyping and educational use).

The MQ-2 responds to a range of gases including **LPG, i-butane, propane, methane (natural gas), hydrogen, alcohol vapour, and smoke**. Because it is **not selective** (multiple gases can trigger a response), it’s best used to detect trends/changes or calibrated for your specific environment. An onboard **potentiometer** allows you to adjust sensitivity for your application.

This is an **analog** sensor module. Microcontrollers with analog inputs (e.g., Arduino) can read it directly. Devices without analog inputs (e.g., Raspberry Pi) require an external ADC. MQ-series sensors include a heater element, so allow time for warm-up to reach stable readings.
