## Description

This is one our most popular motor control shields for the Arduino! It's got everything needed to power and control motors with an Arduino board (that's 4 DC Motors or 2 Servos). This is the upgraded shield, using TB6612 drivers over the L293D darlington driver for up to 1.2A per channel (that's plenty for most maker projects). If you need a board capable of driving your motors with integrated I2C control, then don't move past this one. It's awesome!

- **Compatibility** - This one isn't just compatible with the standard Uno, you can also have a plug and play experience with the Leonardo, Mega 2560 r3, Mega ADK, Duemilanove AND Due. That's realistically most of the boards you'd want for Motor control!
- **Pins Used (Stacking Shields)** - The pins used by this shield are the 5V/3.3V, GND, SDA, SCL, Analog 4 &amp; 5, and the Digital Pins 9 and 10. Everything else is available for your project to use. Also, the SDA/SCL pins are just the I2C bus pins, so you can have multiple devices on that bus with no issue.
- **Polarity Protection** - You won't blow up your Arduino with a fault.
- **Servos!** - You can connect 2 servos to the shield too
- **Terminal Block connections** - You won't be worried by trying to connect your motors, just use the screw blocks to get it hooked up properly.
- **Reset?** - The Arduino reset switch is connected up to the shield, so you'll be able to access it easily.
- **Libraries** - All of the libraries are available for download, meaning you can get right into coding your motors.

### Using the Motor Shield

You'll need to solder the pins to your motor shield when you get it, it comes with all of the pins you just need some basic soldering skills. Once you have that, you can download your libraries and get the Shield stacked on your dev board. It's just that easy.

### Technical Specifications

- **2 connections for 5V 'hobby' servos** connected to the Arduino's high-resolution dedicated timer - no jitter!
- 4 H-Bridges: TB6612 chipset provides **1.2A per bridge** (3A for brief 20ms peaks) with thermal shutdown protection, internal kickback protection diodes. Can run motors on 4.5VDC to 13.5VDC.
- **Up to 4 bi-directional DC** motors with individual 8-bit speed selection (so, about 0.5% resolution)
- **Up to 2 stepper motors** (unipolar or bipolar) with single coil, double coil, interleaved or micro-stepping.
- Motors automatically disabled on power-up
- Big terminal block connectors to easily hook up wires (18-26AWG) and power
- Arduino reset button brought up top
- Polarity protected 2-pin terminal block and jumper to connect external power, for separate logic/motor supplies
- Tested compatible with Arduino UNO, Leonardo, ADK/Mega R3, Due, Diecimila &amp; Duemilanove. Works with Mega/ADK R2 and earlier with 2 wire jumpers.
