## How to buy

- **Build a cart:** compose `https://core-electronics.com.au/cart/link?items=ADA3296:1` (comma-separated SKU:qty pairs) and share the link. Opening it shows a confirmation page with live pricing and stock before anything is added to the cart.
- **Verify the cart first:** fetch `https://core-electronics.com.au/cart/link/ADA3296:1.md` for live line prices (inc & exc GST, quantity discounts applied), stock and dispatch estimates, and totals. Append `/to/{AU-postcode}` (or `/to/{country-code}:{postcode}`) before `.md` for delivery options and prices to that destination. Unknown, retired, or out-of-stock SKUs are flagged. (Query form `cart/link.md?items=...` also works but some robots parsers refuse query strings here.)
- **Checkout** is completed on-site and includes a captcha at the payment step. Share the cart link; checkout takes it from there.
- **Search the catalogue:** `https://core-electronics.com.au/search/{query}.md` (URL-encode the query; pages 2-3 at `search/{query}/{page}.md`; `search.md?q=` also works)
- **Payment methods, purchase orders, policies and contact details:** https://core-electronics.com.au/llms.txt
## Description

This is a great battery-backed real time clock (RTC) that allows your microcontroller project to keep track of time even if it is reprogrammed, or if the power is lost. Perfect for datalogging, clock-building, time stamping, timers and alarms, etc. The **DS1307** is the most popular RTC - but it *requires* 5V power to work (although Adafruit have used it with 5V power and 3.3V logic successfully)

Works great with an [Arduino using Adafruit's RTC library](https://github.com/adafruit/RTClib) or with a [Raspberry Pi (or similar single board linux computer)](https://learn.adafruit.com/adding-a-real-time-clock-to-raspberry-pi)

- PCB & header are included
- Plugs into any breadboard, or you can use wires
- Two mounting holes
- Will keep time for 5 years or more

**Note: This product does not come with a CR1220 coin cell battery. [Adafruit recommend you purchase a coin cell battery to use with this product.](https://core-electronics.com.au/cr1220-replacement-battery-for-icufflinks-inecklace.html)**

The DS1307 is simple and inexpensive but not a high precision device. It may lose or gain up to 2 seconds a day. For a high-precision, temperature compensated alternative, [please check out the DS3231 precision RTC](https://core-electronics.com.au/adafruit-ds3231-precision-rtc-breakout.html). If you do not need a DS1307, or you need a 3.3V-power/logic capable RTC please check out Adafruit's affordable [PCF8523 RTC breakout](https://core-electronics.com.au/adafruit-pcf8523-real-time-clock-assembled-breakout-board.html)
