## How to buy

- **Build a cart:** compose `https://core-electronics.com.au/cart/link?items=ADA6373:1` (comma-separated SKU:qty pairs) and share the link. Opening it shows a confirmation page with live pricing and stock before anything is added to the cart.
- **Verify the cart first:** fetch `https://core-electronics.com.au/cart/link/ADA6373:1.md` for live line prices (inc & exc GST, quantity discounts applied), stock and dispatch estimates, and totals. Append `/to/{AU-postcode}` (or `/to/{country-code}:{postcode}`) before `.md` for delivery options and prices to that destination. Unknown, retired, or out-of-stock SKUs are flagged. (Query form `cart/link.md?items=...` also works but some robots parsers refuse query strings here.)
- **Checkout** is completed on-site and includes a captcha at the payment step. Share the cart link; checkout takes it from there.
- **Search the catalogue:** `https://core-electronics.com.au/search/{query}.md` (URL-encode the query; pages 2-3 at `search/{query}/{page}.md`; `search.md?q=` also works)

## Description

What's better than Adafruit's [tri-color E-Paper displays](https://www.adafruit.com/search?q=tri-color+e-paper)? Quad-color of course! This is a **2.13" 250x122 Quad-Color eInk / ePaper Bare Display**.

Chances are you've seen one of those new-fangled 'e-readers' like the Kindle or Nook. They have gigantic electronic paper 'static' displays - that means the image stays on the display even when power is completely disconnected. The image is also high contrast and very daylight readable. It really does look just like printed paper!

**Please note: this is the bare display element.** You need to plug it into a board with a 'standard' 24-pin FPC e-paper connector. **Adafruit recommend checking out and picking up a matching driver board**:

- **[Feather RP2040 ThinkInk](https://core-electronics.com.au/adafruit-rp2040-feather-thinkink-with-24-pin-e-paper-display-stemma-qt.html)**- solderless plug-and-play solution with Arduino or CircuitPython support. Definitely the easiest way to get started, and is what Adafruit show in the demo above
- **[eInk Feather Friend](https://core-electronics.com.au/adafruit-eink-feather-friend-with-32kb-sram.html)** - FeatherWing add-on for any Feather board)
- **[eInk Breakout Friend](https://core-electronics.com.au/adafruit-eink-breakout-friend-with-32kb-sram.html)**- breadboard-friendly adapter that gives you level-shifting and components for quick eInk connectivity.
- **[24-pin eInk / ePaper Extension Cable](https://core-electronics.com.au/24-pin-eink-epaper-extension-cable-0-5mm-pitch-25cm-long.html) + [24-pin FPC adapter](https://core-electronics.com.au/24-pin-0-5mm-ffc-fpc-extender.html)** - both together will give your eInk display a stretch so you can place it anywhere.

This is a 2.13" quad-color (red, black, yellow and white) display. It has 250x122 black, red and yellow ink pixels and a white-ish background. It uses the JD79661 chipset, so make sure whatever firmware code you are planning to use has support for it. [The Arduino library Adafruit wrote does all the work for you, you can just interface with it as if it were an Adafruit\_GFX compatible display](https://github.com/adafruit/Adafruit_EPD).

Note that you cannot overlay/mix pixels: each point can be one of the four colors but you can't like mix the red and yellow to make a orange. [Instead, check out Adafruit's guide on dithering!](https://learn.adafruit.com/preparing-graphics-for-e-ink-displays)
