## Description

One Ethernet cable for power and data, plus an M.2 slot that takes full-length 2280 NVMe drives. Fit it to a Raspberry Pi 5 and you get a tidy, fast-booting network node with no USB-C power supply needed.

PoE and NVMe storage usually fight over the same space on top of the Pi 5. This board puts both on one PCB: a PoE+ (802.3at) power stage delivering 5.1 V at 4.5 A, and a PCIe-connected M.2 M-key socket with mounting points for 2230, 2242, 2260 and 2280 SSDs. That means most mainstream NVMe drives fit, not just the short 2230/2242 sizes.

It mounts on brass standoffs above the Pi, linked by a short PCIe flat cable and an extra-tall 40-pin header. The whole stack is about 36 mm tall, which suits rack, cluster and wall-mounted installs where a single cable run is the cleanest option.

Getting started:

- Fit the 4-pin PoE socket and 40-pin header, then mount the HAT on the standoffs and connect the PCIe cable (note the "to HAT" / "to RPi5" labels).
- Add `dtparam=pciex1` to `/boot/firmware/config.txt` to enable the PCIe port.
- Run `sudo rpi-eeprom-config --edit` and add `PSU_MAX_CURRENT=5000` so the Pi recognises the high-current supply, plus `BOOT_ORDER=0xf416` if you want to boot from NVMe.
- Connect to an 802.3at PoE+ switch or injector and reboot.

**Important:** Do not connect a power supply to the Pi 5's USB-C port while the PoE+ HAT is powering it. Doing so may damage your hardware.

### Features

- Power the Pi 5 and its SSD from one PoE+ network cable – up to 25.5 W input with a 5.1 V/4.5 A output, so no separate power point is needed at the install site
- Fits nearly any M.2 NVMe SSD, with dedicated mounting holes for 2230, 2242, 2260 and 2280 lengths
- Boot and run from NVMe for much faster boot times and file access than microSD, via the Pi 5's native PCIe connector
- PCIe Gen 2 by default, with optional Gen 3 for drives that test stable
- Power and PCIe activity LEDs show status at a glance
- Arrives ready to build, with standoffs, screws, PCIe cable, headers and a screwdriver included
