## Description

Here's another addition to Adafruit's growing family of [AA battery holders](https://core-electronics.com.au/power-batteries/battery-holders.html). Behold! A holder for three (3) AA batteries! It's got a 6" long genuine JST-PH 2-pin cable connector, an On/Off switch, and, oh yes, it's in classy Adafruit black.

This battery holder connects 3 AA batteries together in series for powering all kinds of projects. Adafruit spec'd these out because the box is compact, and 3 AA's add up to about 3.3-4.5V, a very similar range to Lithium Ion/polymer (Li-Ion) batteries, plus it has a nifty on-off switch. That makes them ideal for use with 3.3V projects that have a 2-pin JST connector meant for one of Adafruit's Li-Ion/Poly batteries. (Of course, you can't recharge them like Li-Ion/Polys, so don't try to plug this into one of Adafruit's Li-Ion/Poly charger boards!).

Fits any standard AA battery. When using rechargeable NiMH the output voltage will range from about 3.7V with charged batteries to 2.7V at the end of life with a nominal voltage of 3.6V. When using alkalines, the output will range from 4.5V with new batteries to 3.3V at the end of life with a nominal voltage of about 4.5V.

The polarity matches that of Adafruit's [2-pin JST cable](https://core-electronics.com.au/jst-2-pin-cable.html) and [Li-Ion/Poly batteries](https://core-electronics.com.au/power-batteries/liion-lipoly.html). Uses a genuine JST connector, so it won't 'catch and tear' in JST connectors.

Batteries are not included, [but Adafruit have lots of options in the store](https://core-electronics.com.au/power-batteries/alkaline-batt.html)
